Melissa Rosenberger, MAcOM, MS, is a sound healer, shamanic practitioner, acupuncturist, musician, writer, poet, and composer. She has a
private practice in the Seattle area. She sees clients for private
sessions and teaches classes and workshops.
Education and Training
Melissa remembers loving nature documentaries and feeling deeply connected to
the natural world as a child. Because she grew up in a secular environment this led her to study of biology, which
literally means the study of life, and in particular neurobiology, the study of
the nervous system. Melissa graduated magnum cum laude in Neuroscience
from Oberlin College, and received a Masters degree in Neurobiology and
Behavior from the University of Washington. As an undergraduate she was
awarded the Nancy Robel Memorial Endowed Prize, a departmental prize for most promise in the field, and in graduate
school she was awarded a three-year research grant from the National Science
Foundation. She has two scientific publications from graduate school.
During graduate school Melissa realized she wanted to pursue some form of
health care. She left the world of research science to attend the Seattle Institute of Oriental Medicine from
2002-2005. Melissa graduated with a Masters of Acupuncture and Oriental
Medicine in 2005. Her training included Chinese-style acupuncture as well
as Japanese Meridian Therapy, Chinese herbs, and addiction/detox
training. She is currently licensed in the state of Washington as an East
Asian Medicine Practitioner. In addition to her private practice, Melissa
has worked in a fertility clinic in conjunction with Evergreen Medical Center.
While in school at SIOM, Melissa met her
first spiritual teacher, Char Sundust, and finished a training program in
shamanic healing. Melissa is a shamanic practitioner, her training
includes soul retrieval, space blessing, extraction work, journey
work, and energy reading. She has also worked with several other wisdom
teachers/healers including Tom Kenyon, Sarah Bicknell, and Michael Meade.
Melissa has completed a sound healing training with Tom Kenyon, and uses sound
as a vehicle of transformation and energy transmission in her healing sessions and classes.
Melissa came to do healing work, as many do, through her own healing
journey. She draws on her scientific and spiritual training as well as
many years of personal exploration and experience to bring forward tools for
healing and living a fulfilling life-- a life of vitality, creativity, passion,
love, and self-expression.
Soundarya is the aspect of Melissa's creative and professional work that
utilizes sound and music for healing, enlivening, and transformational
purposes. Melissa started her musical training early in life by studying
classical violin and piano. Voice is currently her primary mode of
musical expression. Melissa uses her shamanic training to infuse sound
with Spirit and create musical experiences that evoke the life and soul
within.
In gratitude to Melissa's teachers, mentors, and sources of support and
inspiration: Char Sundust, Sarah Bicknell, Awilda Verdejo, Tom Kenyon, Jennifer
