Soul retrieval, also called soul re-integration, helps us
to:
- Transform and integrate energy from past experiences and
relationships--this integration naturally leads to an increased sense of
wholeness and well-being
- Feel more creative, vital, and connected to life
- Break non-productive reoccurring patterns
- Reclaim aspects of self that were "lost" over life
such as ability to feel love, happiness, creativity
- Live in the moment, free from constraints from the past
What is "soul loss"?
Soul loss refers to a state in which a part of someone's
core energy is "stuck" in the past and therefore not available for
expression in the present moment. It can result from any number of
circumstances such as accidents, abuse, trauma, dysfunctional family environments,
and co-dependent relationships. It happens whenever an individual
dissociates (usually subconsciously) from a part of himself/herself in response
to external circumstances. It can also happen when people "give away"
parts of themselves in relationships. People who have experienced soul
loss often say they feel "fragmented", "not themselves",
"not fully alive", or they feel a lack of some essential quality, for
example a statement like "I was really creative until that accident, and I
haven't been able to write since" is an indication of soul loss. It
also shows up in the form of problematic patterns of behavior that are
difficult to break.
The
goal of the soul retrieval is to collect any core energy that is stuck in this
way and bring it into the present day so it can be expressed, experienced, and
utilized once again. Soul retrievals can also help to heal ancestral
patterns, family of origin issues, and shift energy that has become stuck in a
problematic way. They help on all levels: spiritual, emotional, mental,
and physical.
Soul
retrievals are not like other healing modalities in that they are only done
about once a year, or sometimes even less frequently. Some people wait a few
years in between soul retrievals, others get a series- one a year- for a few
years until they feel "done". The number of soul retrievals
needed depends on the extent and type of work to be done. One reason why soul
retrieval work is done infrequently is because it shifts a lot of energy all in
one session, and those energy shifts need time to integrate before more work of
this nature is done.
How do you know if you should consider receiving a soul
retrieval?
Soul
retrieval can be a powerful and life-changing healing process, especially
when used in conjunction with other forms of healing such as counseling and
bodywork. The best indicator of whether to receive a soul retrieval is if it
feels right to you, even if you don't know why. You may also want to consider
soul retrieval if you have experienced any of the following:
- Substance abuse/addictions
- PTSD
- Sexual, emotional, or physical trauma
- Near-death experiences/ accidents
- Chronic health problems
- Persistent and non-contextual emotional states like
depression or anxiety
- Dysfunctional relationships-especially repeated patterns
- A sense of disconnection with life-dissociation
- A sense of the loss of certain life-qualities such as the
ability to be happy, motivation, sense of safety, etc.
- Suicidal thoughts or attempts (i.e. loss of desire to live, a
feeling of not belonging on this Earth, fantasizing about death)
- A feeling that you are not manifesting your full potential
- A desire to let go of old ways of being that no longer serve
you
- Loss of creativity
- Loss of sexual drive and interest
- Inability to give or receive love
Soul
retrievals also help clear ancestral and karmic patterns.

Preparation for the Soul Retrieval
Once
your appointment has been made the healing process starts, so emotions and
memories may come up in the time leading up to your soul retrieval. Take
care of yourself, if life seems to get a little more chaotic try to be flexible
and take time to relax and be introspective.
Pay
attention to dreams, especially the week before. Pay attention to any
salient issues, thoughts, feeling, or memories that come up. Of special
importance are events involving abuse of any kind, accidents, near-death
experiences, major relationships that have not completely resolved, family of
origin issues, and addictions. Write these down and bring to the soul
retrieval.
Plan
to have a good support person be with you for the soul retrieval. A good
support person is someone who you are comfortable with, who loves you, and who
can show up for you to provide solid support. Have the support person drive
you. Go out for a good meal after the soul retrieval. If you do not
have a support person I may provide one for you.
Do not take non-prescription drugs or drink
alcohol before your soul retrieval.
What to bring:
- A good support person (can be more than one) to help you
through the process.
- Give-aways (gifts) for the practitioner, your support people
and the drummer that show your gratitude for their support. A
give-away is anything you are inspired to give, it is an energy exchange,
as a general rule bring give-aways that are equal to the amount of healing
you wish to receive. Give-aways do not have to be bought or
new. The practitioner fee can serve as the give-away for the
practitioner or you can bring an additional gift.
- Set your intent for what you want to receive from the
soul retrieval and what you want healed. Write it down so you don't
forget.
Post-Soul Retrieval Care
After
a soul retrieval, integration work is important. The soul retrieval will set
the stage for major change in your life, that change is often immediately
evident, and there is also an integration process that happens afterward during
which that "new" part of you is integrated into your current
life. After soul retrieval everyone has their own experience, so do what
feels right for yourself.
Counseling and body work can be extremely useful and are highly recommended
post-soul retrieval. (See referral list for qualified practitioners
familiar with this work). For people who have experienced heavy trauma
and/or suicidal tendencies good sources of professional and/or personal support
may be required. In general, take care of yourself. If you need
assistance contact me or one of my colleagues for an appointment. It's a
good idea to have at least one follow-up appointment to help with
integration.
